Services
SPPA
has been providing direct support and information and advice to providers
of childcare services for almost 40 years.
Local authorities
from regions across Scotland, several in conjunction with the Local
Childcare Partnership, provide funding to allow SPPA to deliver local
services. A number of local authorities also provide funding which
allows SPPA to deliver specific project work.
Since 1998, the
year of the Scottish Executive’s Green Paper on Scottish childcare
in the early years, SPPA has been developing a wide range of direct
support services.
These services
include:
• Development
Officer support – team of development staff working in partnership
with local authority staff located in a geographical area providing
direct support to parent led committees in the areas of management
• Pre-3 Development Officer support – as above but targeting
the very young and forging developmental links with local 0 –
5yrs provision
• Play Development Officer support – team of full time
development staff targeting the most vulnerable in society via social
inclusion agenda (Surestart Funded)
• Direct Support Service – provision of a development
officer to absorb the management tasks on behalf of parent led committees,
often across a cluster of groups (cluster management)
Staffing
SPPA currently
employees in the region of 45 Development staff across Scotland line
managed by a team of 4 Service Managers who have specific geographical
responsibility.
