Sources of funding
Do you have any information about where my group could get some extra funding support?
There are numerous places that you can access money from to support your work and to help with your group’s finances. Check for information at your local reference library, they usually have a section on fundraising and fund finding. SPPA’s funding leaflet lists other possible sources of funding support. The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) also provides information on funding support for training and qualifications.
The Voluntary Action Fund (VAF) awards Community Chest grants to smaller groups and voluntary organisations across Scotland. Groups can apply for funding for a wide range of activities or operational costs.
Theft from group
How do we deal with the money going missing from the group?
When money is misappropriated by management committee members, it is very stressful for other committee members. SPPA’s theft guidance suggests steps to put in place to prevent this from happening and also , if this does occur, it gives guidance on how to handle the situation.
Fee Management
One of our members has run up a bill in terms of their child’s fees and we are having a problem regarding their payment to us. How can we can retrieve the amount owed?
It is important that your collection system is robust and that your members are aware of your expectations in terms of payment of fees from the outset. SPPA’s fee management guidance (Word copy/PDF copy) will assist with setting up your system and dealing with any problems once they occur.
Internet Banking
