Getting it Right for Early Years
SPPA's National Conference, AGM and Exhibition, Getting it Right for Early Years, is being held in the spectacular setting of Our Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh on Thursday 11 November. Do come and join us and enjoy a variety of speakers and workshops.
The theme for the day has an emphasis on Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC).
This is the programme that aims to improve outcomes for all children by promoting a shared approach that builds solutions with and around children and families. It enables children to get the help they need when they need it; supports a positive shift in culture, systems and practice; and involves working together to make things better. This year’s conference will demonstrate how pre-school providers and parents can give their children the very best start in life.
Our excellent line up of speakers will be speaking on a variety of topics including how to stop us as a society failing so many children, by exploring the theme of the need to invest in early years. Awareness of Getting it Right for Every Child will also be raised and delegates will be updated about new developments around GIRFEC prompting the early years voluntary sector to work with it. The promotion of early years services and what we should consider doing if we are going to get it right for our children will also be discussed. We also have a motivational speaker who will undoubtedly enliven proceedings!
Workshops will include:
How to Improve Confidence in Children
Healthy Eating
The Curriculum for Excellence
The Importance of Play – Mellow Parenting
The SPPA National Conference provides a great opportunity for delegates to network, improve their knowledge of current best practice and gives access to a wide range of pre-school training taster study sessions. Attendance at conference will qualify towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD). We hope that someone will represent your group or organisation this year and look forward to meeting with them in November.
Booking forms will be sent to SPPA groups and pre-school organisations in the near future, and will be available to download from this website
