Holyrood
Celebration for SPPA
Around
180 invited guests congregated at SPPA’s evening reception
on Wednesday
30 April at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.
The
purpose of this event was to thank SPPA volunteers and supporters
for all the work they do on behalf of the Association and on behalf
of the voluntary sector pre-school groups that they represent.
The majority of those in attendance were volunteers currently
serving on committees, and there were also many volunteers from
many years ago too. Wine and canapés were served during
the course of the evening and the level of enjoyment was matched
by the decibel level of the conversations taking place!
This
event was part of SPPA’s 40th Anniversary celebrations and
was kindly sponsored by former SPPA volunteer and employee, Cathy
Peattie MSP . Cathy welcomed everyone along to the Parliament,
and then Adam Ingram MSP, Minister for Children and Early Years,
launched the SPPA Strategic Plan and thanked the volunteers present
for their commitment over the years.
Norma
Butler, who has been collating the annual questionnaires for 21
years, and Mary Kernohan, the chairperson from Mayfield Salisbury
Playgroup, both spoke eloquently about their volunteering experience.
The
SPPA Chairperson, Clare Nugent, presented an SPPA Quality Assurance
certificate to Debbie Urquhart of Tom Thumb Playgroup and thanked
everyone for their attendance.
